Cattery Policy & Health Guarantee
Introduction
At Down Home Maine Coons, our kittens are raised in our home and are part of our family from the very beginning.
Our focus is on health, temperament, and preserving the beauty and structure of the Maine Coon breed.
We carefully select homes to ensure every kitten receives a lifetime of love and proper care.
Reservation Process
Kittens are reserved with a non-refundable $500 deposit payable through secure payment methods such as PayPal, Venmo or Zelle. Remaining balance is due in cash or cashiers check at pickup.
Deposits ensure that a kitten is held specifically for your family. Once a deposit is received, the kitten will be marked as Reserved on our website as well as on our Facebook page.
Deposits are non-refundable because once a kitten is reserved, we turn away other potential families.
If for some reason we are unable to provide the kitten due to health or breeder circumstances, the deposit will be refunded or transferred to a future litter at the buyers discretion.
Kitten Pricing
Our kittens are sold as pet companions unless otherwise discussed.
Prices vary depending on:
• Color and markings
• Gender
• Structure and breeding potential
Please see our Available Kittens Page or Contact Us for current pricing.
What Comes With Your Kitten
Every Down Home Maine Coon kitten goes home with:
• Age-appropriate vaccinations
• Veterinary health check
• Health record documentation
• TICA registration paperwork (if applicable)
• Starter food
• Blanket or item with familiar scent
Our goal is to ensure each kitten transitions smoothly into their new home.
Spay / Neuter Agreement
All pet kittens must be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age recommended by your veterinarian. With a 6 month deadline.
This protects the breed and helps prevent irresponsible breeding.
Breeding Rights
We offer breeding rights for an add on cost of $1000. Upon purchase of breeding rights you will be
provided a TICA breeder slip/registration application(buyer pays all applicable fees), a 3rd generation certified pedigree and a breeding rights specific purchase contract.
Pickup & Shipping
Kittens are typically ready to go to their new homes at 12–14 weeks of age.
This allows proper time for socialization, vaccinations, and development with their mother and litter mates.
We prefer in-person pickup whenever possible.
Shipping options may be discussed on a case-by-case basis(buyer pays all applicable fees).
Veterinary Care
All kittens from Down Home Maine Coons receive age appropriate vaccinations and a veterinary health examination before leaving for their new home.
72 Hour Veterinary Check
Buyers must have their kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within
72 hours of pickup or delivery. If a serious health concern is discovered during this time,
the buyer must contact us immediately.
Genetic Health Guarantee
Our kittens are guaranteed against life threatening congenital or genetic
defects for a period of 1 year from the kitten’s date of birth.
Care Requirements
This health guarantee is valid only if the kitten receives proper care including
quality nutrition, routine veterinary care, and is kept primarily as an indoor companion animal.
The guarantee excludes conditions from neglect, injury, poor diet, exposure, or post-sale issues. No guarantee against common issues (e.g., URIs, parasites post-sale).
Non Transferable
This health guarantee applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable.
